About Cycle the Wight

Cycle the Wight was set up as a dedicated cycling events company to organise this event on the Isle of Wight, We are passionate about encouraging all abilities of rider to experience the best cycling the Isle of Wight has to offer

We run a well organised friendly event. Our routs include road, cycle paths and off the beaten track, which are suitable for riders of all ages and abilities. We pride ourselves on organising quality events, where the rider can concentrate on enjoying their ride while we take care of all the details and support for them.

Cycling is more than just business for us. We are passionate about encouraging all abilities to ‘get out and ride’ and enjoy the many benefits this sport has to offer. With this in mind we offer children’s cycling, which allows under 16's accompanied by an adult to cycle for just £5, and a range of distances at all event with the hope of promoting cycling to the masses.

If you want to know more about us, or if you are interested in working with us (either as a sponsor or an event helper), please contact one of our friendly team.

To get in touch, please head over to our contact page where you can either send us an email via the form or give us a call.

What you get at a Sportive or mountain bike event

Our cycling events are tailored so all you really have to do is turn up, register and cycle. Obviously, we ask that you prepare a little for the day (dress appropriately for the type of weather and time of year, bring lights, helmet, food, spare tubes and a pump), but the rest is pretty much taken care of.

We'll send you a pre-event info pack when you enter one of our events to help you prepare, which also contains all the vital information you'll need.

Mechanical Support: We provide mechanical support, which is also available before you start should any issues arise, so if you encounter any failures or breakdowns along the route you can give us a call and we will send someone out to you. In most cases, the mechanic will come to you but if they can't we will pick you up and take you to the nearest mechanic who is usually stationed at our feed stops.

Medical Support: We also provide medical support with highly trained medics on hand along the route. If you've had a fall, feeling unwell or have witnessed an accident, give us a call on the medical number provided and we will get someone to you as soon as possible. If the nature of the accident or illness is really serious, please call 999 first and then contact us immediately after.

Feed Stops: Feed stops are provided around the route. The only exception to this will be on some really short routes. The feed stops are stocked with lots of energy foods such as bananas, flapjacks, biscuits, sweets, energy drink, water, and energy products. Bike racks are provided at the stops and there will usually (but not always) be a mechanic on hand to help with any issues. Facilities such as toilets are normally available.

Route directions: All our routes are signed with directional arrows, messages and warnings. You must observe and adhere to these at all times.

Insurance: We provide public liability insurance for all our riders. You should, however, get personal insurance to cover injury to yourself, damage or theft of your bike or personal property.

Result Times and Certificates: When you sign in on the day we will provide you with bike numbers and a timing chip. The chip goes on your helmet and will activate your time as you cross the start line, and then deactivate it when you cross the finish line, recording your time out on the course. Your time will be available via our website after the event (usually within 24 hours), along with a certificate for you to download and show off to your friends.

Finishers Medals: All our riders get a well-deserved finishers medal upon crossing the finish line. We sometimes have a few other goodies available as well, so don't whizz off without checking first.

Catering: In most cases, we will provide on-site catering so you can grab something to eat and drink after the event. Make sure you have a bit of cash on you for such occasions.

Massage at Events: Beauty Within attend our events to help you recover after your ride. For £15 you'll get a professional sports massage from a highly trained sports physio, who will work away the aches and pains you may have picked up during the day.

Online pre-entry Online pre-entry is the easiest way of entering our events and saves £5 per person vs. entering on the day. Online pre-entry will save you time on the day of the event allowing you to simply pick up your registration pack from the registration points. Please note: If an event reaches its capacity we will have to close the event to riders wanting to enter on the day. It is, therefore, best to pre-enter online to avoid disappointment! Please be aware that when purchasing events, you will be taken to our online store to complete your transaction.

On the day entry On the day entries are available at all our events as long as the event has not sold out prior to the event day. We will usually put a notice on our event pages if this is the case. On the day entries are subject to an additional £5.00 per person surcharge, over the online price. Payment can be made with cash or cheque. You can fill out an entry form when you arrive at the event. One entry form must be completed per person.

You can read more information about what to do on the day of an event.

Under 16 admin fee We want to encourage young riders to enjoy the pleasure of cycling. That's why all riders under 16 years old only have to pay a small fee to cover the entry process. All under 16 riders must be accompanied by a paying adult. Valid ID will be requested on the day.
